DESCRIPTION:
This is a very nice in and out trail that is about 14 miles in length
when starting from Key Bridge(7mi. in, 7mi. out). This trail is great for
beginners but has a few mildly technical sections to keep you alert. There
is a little bit of everything on this trail. Roots, bridges, small ditches,
switchbacks(up & downhill), And logs just to name a few. This trail follows
a large creek so it is very winding but still very fast. There is a little
climbing, but for the most part is fairly flat so keeping a good pace is not
very hard. This is a very popular trail in this area and is also used by hikers
so keep your eyes open. My favorite part about this trail is the abundance
of wildlife. I have seen deer, squirrells, rabbitts, raccoons, and a skunk
just to name a few.
DIRECTIONS:
From Augusta take Hwy 28
to Modoc and Turn right on Hwy 23. Follow Hwy 23 for approximately 3 miles and turn left on Cold Springs Road.
This road will end at Key Road where you
turn left. Continue on Key Road until you get to
a steel bridge. This is Key Bridge. The trailhead is on the far side of the
bridge on the LEFT. Wine Creek Trail is on the right.
