DESCRIPTION:
The motorcycle trail is fast with lots of jumps. It is a wide hardpack surface that is approximately
12 miles in length and can be split into two loops, a four mile and a 8 mile. This is a fun trail. Not technical, but has lots of jumps and a some good climbs.
The best time to ride this trail is on weekdays, as the motorcycle use is heavy on the weekends.
The horse trail has many access points. Although it actually starts in the Parson's Mountain Recreation Area,
the best access point for biking is at the intersection of FS Roads 505 and 506 near Greenwood. This
keeps you away from most of the equestrian traffic that usually stays on the end towards the park. Directions for
this "Midway" section are described below. This is a very popular trail for people in the Greenwood Area and is maintained
by members of SORBA-CSRA in Greenwood. There are about 24 miles of horse trails in all.
DIRECTIONS:
From Abbeville take Hiway 28 towards McCormick for 3-4 miles. Turn left at sign for
Parson's Mountain Recreation Area. The entrance is about 2 miles on this road
on the right.
To park at the Motorcycle Trailhead, continue on Hiway 28 for approx. 2-3 miles to
a gravel road on the left called Tower Road. Turn left onto Tower Road. The trailhead is about 100 yds. on
the right. Park and ride.
