Bartram Trail

DESCRIPTION:
This is a beginner trail that is in-and-out plus it has a few loops in the middle. The in-and-out section is yellow blaze and it is about 14 miles in length (7mi. in, 7mi. out). The loops are white and red blaze and they are about 2 miles in length. This trail is great for beginners and does NOT have any technical sections. The trail offers views of wildlife and the lake.   This trail is located on WMA land.  You are required to wear hunter orange during deer hunting season (October to January). 


DIRECTIONS:
There are 3 access locations with ample parking and there is NO parking fee; Petersburg Campground - located on the right as you approach the campground entrance, Lake Springs - located about 1/4 mile on the left after you turn into Lake Springs Recreational area, West Dam - located on your left after you turn into the West Dam Recreational area. From Augusta take Washington Road to Pollards Corner and Turn right on Hwy 221. Follow Hwy 221 for a few miles and turn left at the Petersburg Campground sign or keep going on Hwy 221 and turn left at Lake Springs sign or keep going and turn left at the West Dam sign (if you drive past the dam you went to far).
